Meet Lucy & the Ponies

I'm Lucy and horses have been the absolute centre of my world since I was eight years old. What started as a childhood passion has grown into a lifelong dedication to understanding these incredible animals and sharing their unique wisdom with others.

My life revolves around horses—they keep me grounded and over the past 35+ years, I have worked hard to build a deep, intuitive relationship with them. Quite simply, I wouldn't know what to do with myself without them!

My Journey to EFL

For many years, my passion has been focused on making the equestrian world more accessible. Through my business, Equihandee, I've designed and provided riding aids to support young and disabled riders, helping them experience the joy of being in the saddle.

Transitioning into Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) was a natural next step for me. A few years ago, following a significant health diagnosis, I experienced first-hand how deeply our mental well-being impacts our physical bodies. It was a profound lesson in how vital it is to look after our mental health. That personal journey, combined with my love for horses, fuelled my desire to help others find peace, resilience and healing through equine connection.

When you visit us, you are in safe, experienced and fully regulated hands. I am dedicated to providing a secure and supportive environment for every client. My qualifications include:

  • Certified Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) Practitioner
  • First Aid for Mental Health
  • Fully Licensed and Insured * DBS Checked

Juke

Juke is an absolute superstar and a true cornerstone of our EFL team. Known around the yard for his incredibly calm and gentle personality, he brings a wonderful, reassuring presence to all of our sessions. When he's not working his magic as a therapy pony, he forms a fantastic team with Matilda out hacking and jumping. He is a total dream to look after and never wants to miss his morning chaff–though he'd happily skip a clipping session if given the choice! Juke's big heart makes him the perfect partner for this work.

Puzzle

Puzzle is a super-chilled lady who is always a massive hit with everyone she meets! While she definitely believes in taking life at her own relaxed pace–and can be a little lazy when it suits her–she absolutely lights up for a fun ride. Puzzle is currently working hard on her fitness goals to keep her weight in check, though she's always happy to break her diet for her absolute favourite treat: a crunchy carrot! Her wonderfully calm, steady nature makes her a total joy to have in our EFL sessions.

Wensley

Wensley is our beautiful little Welsh pony who is a massive hit with all the kids. She's a lady of experience–formerly a brilliant driving pony who took to the harness like a duck to water. These days, she spends her time being super calm around the yard, managing her expanding waistline and showing off her mature, post-dapple-grey coat. Wensley loves everyone she meets, with the sole exception of the vet when they bring out the injections! She is a gentle soul who brings so much joy to our sessions.
